🤔 What Kind of Haus Should We Build?
There are a lot of settings to consider when setting up your DAO. That's why we've built out a bunch of "one click" templates. Here's a bit on those templates, when they're the right choice and more!

First, some basics.
People don’t exactly ask us “What kind of Haus should we build?” But, they do ask all sorts of similar questions as they are setting up their DAO. This is because there are a few parameters that need to be set at the time. Different choices for these parameters will get you different dynamics within your DAO, so knowing what they are is important. Let’s start with a quick rundown.
DAO setting:
Primary Token is the primary token for your DAO. If you want to set it manually you’ll need the token contract address.
Proposal Velocity is how many proposals are allowed in one day.
Voting Period is the length of your voting period.
Grace Period is the number of days after a vote is completed in which any members who are against the proposal can rage quit before the proposal in enacted.
Proposal Deposit is the deposit required to submit a proposal to the DAO.
Proposal Reward goes to the person who processes the proposal after voting and grace periods have passed. (This comes out of the Proposal Deposit.)
Thats a lot! We know. That’s why we’re launching a number of templates along with DAOhaus v2 so you can get started easily with just one click. Taking a look at each of these templates and their parameters is also a good way to start to understand how these settings impact the dynamics of a DAO
One click templates.
Guild
Best for worker cooperatives with small to medium financial throughput. This template uses a stablecoin as the primary token. If the goal is to work as a group and get paid it only complicates things to make your token something subject to market swings. The velocity allows for work to get done, and the voting periods keep things rolling while allowing team members time to focus on work without missing an important vote.

Hang with your friends and comrades to nerd out or just chill. These settings are just for fun, assuming little to no financial weighty financial decisions to be made. The primary token isn’t subject to market swings. Who cares how many proposals are submitted in a day? And the proposals churn through voting and grace periods fairly quickly. If the point is to have fun who wants to spend too much time waiting on proposals?

Invest on chain with a venture fund at your fingertips. Pretty much the opposite of just a club, here there are potentially big decisions to be made. It’s an investment group so it makes sense to deal with market volatility in the primary token. The DAO members are used to this, and the number are big enough that it would be a shame to leave that on the table as ETH continues to grow. With only one proposal a day and long voting and grace periods, DAO members know that they will have time to carefully consider big moves, and react if they don’t like the way they are going.

Spread around the wealth and accelerate good stuff. Here you want some of the features of a Venture template, but not others. It makes sense to keep the primary token in WETH, but you probably don’t need the locked down velocity or extensive grace period to provide the same maximal protection of funds.

Raid together to get projects and products done in record time. Similar to the Guild template, this one is all about getting work done to build a product or run a protocol. People want to get paid in stable coins, and you want a good balance of velocity and member protections.

Those are the basic one click templates. Just pick your template and you can summon your DAO in record time. Also new in v2 is the multi-summoner which will let you summon your DAO with multiple members right from the start.
Don’t want to use a template? Have an idea for some different parameters that you don’t see in a template? That’s cool. Look in the top right for the “hard mode” button. This will let you set all of your own settings. But beware! These settings are permanent once the DAO is summoned. (For now, we’ve got the ability to edit them coming soon.) If you need to change them you’ll have to summon a new DAO.
And more.
But wait, there’s more! DAOhaus v2 also includes our new “boost” system. This modular layer will allow you to give your DAO a whole range of different super powers by applying boosts. Some of those apply to the templates we ran through above for an extra multiplier. We’ll have more on that in an upcoming post all about boosts!
