š¤ What is $HAUS Token For?
Introducing UberHaus: a DAO of DAOs, our plan for progressive decentralization, and platform governance via $HAUS token.
So, youāre here to learn about the $HAUS token? (Wen $HAUS, even š) Sweet! weāve talked about it some in our posts about āProof of Contributionā if you want to catch up there. Otherwise, weāve got to start with a bit on our plan for the Haus, because itās important for understanding the point of $HAUS in its first use beyond POC.
But donāt worry, weāll get to the token by the end. š° š
The Future of the Haus is Decentralized.
DAOhaus is a platform. This means that to an extent it requires centralization to work. But, we are a platform for DAOs, an inherently decentralized technology and to the core of our guiding manifesto we believe that maximum decentralization of the entire project should be our end goal. This is why we put HausDAO in charge of the project as quickly as possible, and weāre writing today to explain what we believe are the next steps on our journey of progressive decentralization.
An UberDAO of DAOs
As much as we would love to avoid the buzz term governance, thatās what weāre talking about here. To this point the development of DAOhaus has been overseen by a small team operating as a DAO. In this situation governance is fairly easy. With the launch of DAOhaus Version 2, and we gear up for another Community Contribution Opportunity (more on that in a sec) we believe that we have reached a governance inflection point, at which control of the project must be decentralized further.
This is not a surprise and we have been working on the best mechanisms by which to do this for months. As we design and evolve the product the needs of the DAO users are certainly the most important thing which is why most āgovernanceā conversations tend to boil down to an exploration of how decision-making power is given directly to the user.
Ultimately, in our case, we realized that the granular unit of governance for a platform built for DAOs is, in fact, the DAOs, and not necessarily the āusers.ā As critically important as the users are, we believe that the evolution of the DAOhaus platform will be better served by vesting the governance power to make decisions about the future of the platform (and the HAUS token) in the DAOs that use the Haus.
Today we are announcing UberHausDAO: a DAO made up of DAOs, which will guide the future of DAOhaus. We will have more to say in the future about the mechanics behind how this DAO will function, but we want to start with $HAUS and how it factors into the future of DAOhaus governance.
The HAUS Token
From the beginning of our project we have been talking about $HAUS as our āProof of Contributionā token, meant only to represent the contribution of project participants. With UberHausDAO we are introducing the first uses for $HAUS.
In order for a DAO to take part in UberDAO, and thus have a material vote in the future of the DAOhaus platform (and $HAUS itself), DAOs will have to stake a quantity of $HAUS. We are also working on tools to allow individual $HAUS holders to take part in signal votes to contribute to guidance of the platform.
So far the only way to earn $HAUS tokens has been through contribution to the project (either work or capital.) We will have more information about additional contribution opportunities shortly, but we will also be launching an UberHaus pilot program that will be open to a selection of DAOHaus DAOs chosen based on volume of activity before Feb 14 2021 (Molochās Birthday š.)
If this gets you excited about the future of DAOHaus, or you want to make sure you donāt miss you chance to take part in any of the above, make sure to sign up!
Oh also, if you want to hear us talk about this topic with Kevin Owocki of Gitcoin (and with maybe even more alpha leakage), donāt miss our last Haus Party Live š
